I’m a published author, worry-wart traveler, and a wanna be photographer. At the core of all my stories, I blend my love of secrets and mystery with the tension and chills of a thriller. My latest work is Infamy’s Shadow the first book in a historical mystery series set during WW2 on a hospital ship in the South Pacific. Infamy’s Shadow will debut in December.
Welcome to my writing cave. Some nights I feel like one of those ancient cave dwellers, telling their version of “story” by painting the walls. For me, nothing beats the feeling of typing “The End” even if its considered corny to do so. I know there is still work to do, but the framework of the novel is there, shining back at me. Writing is the fun part–it’s all the administrative work that’s frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I should be thrown in jail for my bad thoughts while trying to change my website or selecting a new book cover. The beautiful gift from writing is when readers enjoy the story and take the time to tell me. Thank you.
The question I’m often asked, “Is why do nurses appear in so much of your fiction?”
Most of my medical experiences come from the long years of hospital work where I began as an emergency room nurse, switched to educator, and ended my career as a clinical research nurse. I can’t remove nurses from my fiction because as a group, they’re the most compelling characters I’ve ever met. And for the record, I write about characters who aren’t nurses too.
I live in historic Mobile, Alabama on the beautiful Gulf Coast with my husband who helps me get “weapon” information right. I love seafood, deep sea fishing, and I’ve utterly failed as a sailor. If I’m not home writing, I’m out stirring up trouble!
